Design for the Love of People

When you keep your people top-of-mind, you create results that resonate with them.

A commercial space that inspires client loyalty, a thriving community, and word-of-mouth marketing? It’s possible. With the right team and approach.

We’ll be your brand partners and design team for a commercial interior that impacts your bottom line. Our People-First Approach is our signature process at the heart of all of our offerings. And it's the absolute key to a branded environment that clients love!

Before any design decisions are made…

We do a deep dive into the people who use the space.  Then, we incorporate psychology, story, and our intimate knowledge of how your people use the space into the design and space plan. The end result?

A memorable brand experience that your customers can’t stop talking about.

No two projects are alike.

We don't quote projects based on square footage. Why? Because your square footage has nothing to do with your project goals, complexity, or branding needs.

“The space is 100% a reflection of myself and my business. It is usable, and each and every client that comes in is still in awe of the space even 1 year [later].

You dealt with every challenge: the property manager, hiccups with deliveries, resolving the countertop deficiency - you just handled it all. And the end result was fabulous. Your communication with me was phenomenal. There were never any communication gaps - you were always letting me know what was happening at each point through the whole process.”

Commercial Interior Design FAQs

  • You could… but at what cost? As a busy entrepreneur, you already have so much on your plate! And if you go it alone, the process can be time consuming, stressful, and – to be completely honest – miserable!

With permits, contractors, and critical design decisions to be made, there are lots of moving parts. It’ll be a big load off of your mind to have an experienced interior design team to support you through the inevitable challenges that will arise. And you’ll be free to turn your attention to the business growth that you wish to happen when the doors open or re-open!

  • If you’re moving into a new commercial space, the best time to call us is before you lease! That way, you can take full advantage of the designer’s expertise. We can help you choose a space that will maximize your business operations and workflow - something that will serve you for the long haul. We can also help you avoid limiting or problematic lease clauses and identify potential issues relating to city bylaws or building code.

If you’re looking to upgrade your existing space (and are re-signing with your current landlord), we want to be involved before you finalize your lease terms.

Talk to us before you resign your new lease (we can work with your real estate team to maximize landlord support for your upgrades!).

In general, allow a minimum of 3 months for design, and another 3 months for construction; so contact us at least six months in advance of your desired opening date. That will help minimize downtime and disruption of your business operations.

  • If you rush everything at the front end, you won’t have time to arrive at an original and high quality solution. So we never do!

We care about your business. A lot. And we want to give your space the attention it deserves. We take the time to do things properly to set you up for lasting success that results in more business efficiency, a better client experience, and thoughtful planning so you can get exactly the result you want, for the best possible price.

So our best advice? Don’t rush it. Invest once and set yourself up for success for years.

  • We value the expertise of each and every member of the project team. That means we’re the experts in identifying and envisioning your unique story. We’re not the experts in construction, particularly in how much things cost or how long they will take. That’s why we bring a trusted contractor on board as early as possible in the process, to provide their insight. We can either work with your existing construction partner, or we can make suggestions of contractors we know will do an amazing job.

  • Because each project is so unique with its own complexities, we charge by the project, not by the hour. Contact us for a quote!

On top of that, choosing an interior designer is about investing in a brand partner. Before anything else, you want to make sure that your designer understands how to translate the nuances of your business (like your customer insights, workflow, and brand story) into impactful and functional design. Investing in a great designer upfront will help grow your business in the long run.

  • It’s pretty difficult to come up with something unique and special if you choose the cheapest option in each category. Instead, get an expert on your side! An experienced interior designer can make recommendations about where it is worthwhile to splurge and where savings can be found. We’re extremely creative, resourceful, and good at coming up with options that look like a million bucks (but cost much, much less). But we need to be involved from the beginning.

  • Pinterest can be a great place to gather initial ideas, but we don’t recommend using it as a template, for two reasons:

    (1) The designs you see online were created to serve a specific purpose for a specific company. So it likely won’t serve your business needs. Often the images you see online are pretty, but actually not very functional, durable or affordable.

    (2) We believe commercial design should be based on YOU, not fleeting trends. When you make design decisions true to your brand strategy, customers, and story, your space will become timeless. If your decisions are based on social media trends, you’ll probably love it now, but be over it in a few months.

Get value for your investment by making it a priority to tell your unique story, rooted in your individual business strategy.

“After so many years of planning, this was a unique moment and opportunity in our lives. Kerri’s team did a really good job of bringing together many different ideas. The store is friendly, bright, colourful and fun. There are so many elements that are so beautiful…it just feels so harmonious.

Many of our first-time customers are Brazilians, and they tell us that they love the space and it reminds them so much of home. The next time they come back, they bring their Canadian friends and co-workers to introduce them to the experience as well.

- SUSANA SIMON, CO-OWNER, A BITE OF BRAZIL
