Willowbrae Academy – a national daycare franchise – has been working with us since 2020. And because we love supporting daycare operators, we couldn’t be happier about it!
We’ve helped them open 9 new locations so far, from brand new builds to renovations in older buildings, as they quickly expand into the Alberta market. Our job? To translate national corporate guidelines into bright, safe child care centers that are ready for business.

Authentic & Aligned Design
Though bespoke design is our specialty (including bespoke daycares!), we were excited to rise to the challenge of taking on a different role with a national franchise. We bring in our specialized expertise to help franchise owners navigate the design/construction process: meeting their operational needs and aligning with Provincial daycare regulations…all while adhering to corporate branding constraints.
With every project, we ensure each Willowbrae Child Care center maintains a consistent look and feel for users, from staff to parents to children. Since it’s a national franchise, the corporate office sets the design standards for each of its locations - and we bring their vision to life in a way that everybody wins.

People-First Decisions
Child care is a heavily regulated industry (with good reason!). We’re always conscious of maintaining a functional, safe space for the kids by following rules and guidelines closely for both interior and exterior spaces (including the playground). Keeping the required ratio of square footage to number of children, using approved safety glass, ensuring the space plan allows caregivers to have eyes on the kids at all times are among the many considerations we follow.
We take a lead role in supporting the franchise owners (who don’t have the expertise of setting up a child care space) by taking care of all of the technicalities to get the center up and running. We support them by taking care of permits, directing contractors, and communicating with the landlords on their behalf.
